Earthen Routes Community Farm

Earthen Routes Community Farm is a volunteer-run urban farm on the campus of the Tata Memorial Centre's ACTREC cancer research centre in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai. It was established in 2012 and occupies roughly 25,000 to 30,000 square feet. The farm mainly follows permaculture principles and implements a multilayer multi-cropping method for optimising the space it has.

Its produce is fully organic and is distributed at no cost to paediatric cancer patients at the adjacent St Jude's ChildCare Centre. The farm was founded and is led by Manasvini Tyagi, whose aim is to bring the benefits of natural farming to cities. In the early years, funds and finding a gardener were the biggest challenges, and for a year and a half the site had no gardener and relied entirely on volunteers. Alongside food production the farm works as a community hub and a teaching site, running workshops and volunteering sessions on the land.

The farm is open to visitors and volunteers, who are invited to explore the site and to take part in workshops and volunteering sessions.
