Social enterprise behind the Mab Ueang sufficiency-economy learning centre and Thai herbal products
Mab Ueang Social Enterprise (บริษัท มาบเอื้อง วิสาหกิจเพื่อสังคม จำกัด) is a non-profit social enterprise that runs learning programmes in the sufficiency-economy approach, natural farming and self-reliant living, connecting the care of people, community and environment. Through its learning centre, demonstration areas, training courses and activities, participants learn skills they can apply in daily life and on their own land.
The organisation promotes the restoration of soil, water, forest and biodiversity, reduced dependence on chemicals and the careful use of resources, and supports the production of safe food and herbs. Organic produce and local wisdom are developed into health and natural products, with income circulating back into the community and supporting the enterprise's social work.
Its programmes reach farmers, communities, young people, older people, families, people interested in their health, community entrepreneurs, and agencies and organisations wanting to learn about sustainable development. The approach is closely aligned with permaculture ethics of caring for the earth, caring for people and sharing resources fairly, through designs in which soil, water, plants, animals and people support one another, restoring ecosystems and building communities that can sustain themselves in the long term.
The enterprise operates the Mab Ueang Agri-Nature Learning Center in Chon Buri, founded by Wiwat Salyakamthorn (Ajarn Yak), and works alongside the Agri-Nature Foundation.
