Cultivating student competency, creativity & leadership for lasting impact in the built environment
The School of Architecture at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) educates future architects, urban designers, landscape architects and researchers through accredited undergraduate, professional and postgraduate programmes. Its teaching integrates design, research, critical thinking and social engagement, preparing students to respond creatively and responsibly to the rapidly changing built environment in Hong Kong, China, Asia and beyond.
The School serves students, faculty, researchers, professional communities, public and civic partners, and the wider communities shaped by architecture, landscape and urban design. Its mission is not only to train students for professional practice, but to help them become thoughtful leaders who can improve people’s living conditions, engage diverse communities and contribute to a better built environment.
Its dedication to environmental design rests on a commitment to sustainability, climate action, social responsibility and Learning From Nature. The School approaches nature not as a backdrop but as a living system of relationships, processes, resource flows, microclimates, materials and ecologies. Through design studios, research, workshops and field-based learning, it explores how architecture can emerge from local conditions, support resilience, respect ecosystems and create more adaptive, generous and regenerative futures for people and place.
