Managing director of Sampran Riverside and TOCA chairman, organic farming in Nakhon Pathom
Arrut Navaraj (อรุษ นวราช) is the managing director of Sampran Riverside, a family-run eco-cultural resort on the Tha Chin River in Nakhon Pathom province, Thailand. He came into the family business in 2005 after a career in investment banking, and went on to lead the Sampran Model, the organic-agriculture project developed around the resort.
His work runs across three linked organisations. Alongside the resort, he is secretary-general of the Sookjai Foundation, which runs the Sookjai organic farmers' market held at Sampran, and he has been reported as the chairman of the Thai Organic Consumer Association (TOCA), the national body for organic consumers in Thailand. The three roles connect a hospitality business, a farmers' market and a consumer association around the same organic supply chain. All three are centred on Sampran in Nakhon Pathom, where the farmers' market is held on the resort's site.
He is among the Thai practitioners taking part in IPC16, the International Permaculture Convergence, which comes to Thailand in 2026.
