The Veggie Prince’s House

The Veggie Prince's House, or Ban Jaochai Phak, is an urban farming learning centre on Lat Prao Soi 71 in northern Bangkok. It occupies about 480 square metres of land next to the house of Nakorn Limpacuptathavon, who started growing chemical-free vegetables there and later began hosting activities on the plot. He had been farming the ground for eight years by the time the centre was profiled in the press.

The site works as a demonstration of how much food a small city plot can produce without chemicals, and as a teaching space. Visitors can learn the basic growing techniques it runs on, including how to make organic fertiliser and organic pesticide at home.

It sits within a wider network of urban agriculture in Thailand. Thai City Farm, a project of the Sustainable Agriculture Foundation Thailand, names the Veggie Prince learning centre among the partners it works with to promote urban farming. Nakorn Limpacuptathavon also founded the Bangkok City Farm Project in 2000, described as the first NGO programme in Thailand to promote and practise urban farming in Bangkok and neighbouring provinces.

Classes are held roughly once a month on a Saturday. Anyone interested is asked to contact Nakorn Limpacuptathavon directly to agree a date and time.
