Network of Thai farmers practising Wanakaset forest agriculture, centred in Chachoengsao
The Wanakaset Network is a community of farmers who studied with Pooyai Viboon Kemchalerm and who practise and develop Wanakaset in their own places and in their own ways. The word translates directly as forest agriculture, and it names both a farm and a network of farms and farmers in Thailand. The concept goes beyond agricultural production to look at self-reliance and the relationship between people and their natural environment and resources. Members come together regularly to share knowledge and experience, and the network's centre is Pooyai Viboon's home in Sanam Chaikhet, Chachoengsao.
Many members also run small eco-social enterprises based on these ideas. The network does some collective marketing and operates a participatory guarantee system, although its core is in the practice itself and in continual learning from nature and from each other. Training courses connected to the network cover practical subjects such as small-scale essential oil extraction with local farmers, using simple technology and equipment. Wanakaset Network is listed among the Thailand Permaculture Convergence network organising IPC16 Thailand 2026.
