Permaculture educator and kaitiaki of the Ōtākaro Orchard food forest in Christchurch

Roz Rolls is a Christchurch-based permaculture educator and the project coordinator of the Ōtākaro Orchard food forest. She has connections to the Cook Islands through ancestry, and she works across community food systems, education and environmental advocacy.

At Ōtākaro Orchard her role is listed as project coordination, with a public contact address on the Edible Canterbury domain. The Canterbury Permaculture Institute refers to her as the orchard's kaitiaki, and describes the daily running of the site, its working bees and the teaching held on site as being led by her.

She also facilitates workshops for Permaculture in New Zealand. These have included a session on permaculture education for schools and children, which creates space to share experiences, insights and future opportunities for engaging young people in permaculture learning, and a session titled Defending Our Deep Ocean. Her work therefore runs from the design and daily care of a city food forest to schools education and to advocacy for the ocean.
