Non-profit global network researching and advocating commons-oriented peer to peer approaches

The P2P Foundation, officially the Foundation for P2P Alternatives, is a non-profit organisation and global network dedicated to advocacy and research of commons-oriented peer to peer (P2P) dynamics in society. Its own website says it has been researching, cataloguing and advocating for the potential of P2P and commons-based approaches since 2005. It documents these projects on an open access wiki and reports on current events on a daily blog.

The Foundation is a registered non-profit with ANBI status in the Netherlands, under the legal name Stichting Peer to Peer Alternatives, with a registered address in Amsterdam. Its work areas include open cooperatives and sustainable livelihoods, and the co-creation of culture and knowledge. Its founder, Michel Bauwens, lives in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
