Convergence Overview

Share what you know. Learn what you don't.

The IPC16 Convergence is a five-day, participant-led gathering where learning happens through doing, sharing, and direct exchange. Following the conference, this is where the event opens out into workshops, demonstrations, discussions, and practical sessions shaped by the people in the room.

Set at Suan Loong Choke Bamboo School in Nakhon Ratchasima, the convergence is designed for real participation. Sessions will unfold across multiple spaces, from kitchens and meeting rooms to outdoor learning areas, creating room for both focused teaching and informal collaboration.

Framed by the wider IPC16 theme Beyond Sustainability: Many Paths, the convergence invites many different ways of knowing into one shared programme. Farmers, builders, educators, community practitioners, and first-time participants all have something to contribute, and the week will continue to take shape as more sessions are proposed and confirmed.

Welcome & Keynote

Opening the Convergence

The Convergence opens at Loong Choke’s own Suan Loong Choke, with a welcome from our host and a keynote from one of permaculture’s most widely heard voices.

Welcome
Loong Choke
NAKHON RATCHASIMA

Loong Choke

Our host for the Convergence. Loong Choke (Uncle Choke) opens five days at his own Suan Loong Choke, the 100-rai bamboo plantation and building school he has grown over four decades of agroforestry. A National Sage of Agriculture and a master bamboo builder who has helped restore tens of thousands of rai of forest with Wildlife Fund Thailand, he welcomes the gathering to a place built on the self-reliance and biodiversity it is here to practise.

Keynote
Andrew Millison
OREGON, USA

Andrew Millison

A permaculture educator, designer and documentary filmmaker at Oregon State University, Andrew Millison brings permaculture to one of the largest audiences in the world: his films have passed 100 million views across more than fifteen countries. He has filmed Thailand’s own Kok Nong Na model, which he calls ‘the Thai version of permaculture,’ and gave the keynote at IPC15 in Taiwan. He joins us to set Thailand’s regenerative movement in a global frame.
