Sneha Koppula

Sneha Koppula is a permaculture educator, designer and nature educator from India, specialising in regenerative agriculture, ecological literacy and sustainable community development. She works with Aranya Agricultural Alternatives, the permaculture non-profit based in Telangana, where she is a project coordinator and contributes to regenerative farming, community development and permaculture education.

Her work is committed to empowering small and marginal farmers, women's groups and rural communities. Through education, demonstration and participatory learning she promotes resilient farming systems and sustainable livelihoods. Over the past five years she has co-facilitated Permaculture Design Courses alongside Narsanna Koppula, co-founder of Aranya, delivering immersive learning experiences for participants from India and around the world.

Sneha's teaching combines hands-on practice with ecological observation and systems thinking. She approaches teaching with the mind of an ecologist, perceiving ecosystems through their relationships, patterns and interconnected processes, and helping learners discover what connects soil, fungi, insects, pollinators, plants, birds and people within a living system. That perspective moves students beyond understanding individual elements towards recognising the dynamic interactions that sustain resilient landscapes and communities. Her work extends beyond adult education to nature-based learning for children and young people, creating opportunities for people of all ages to develop a deeper connection with the natural world.

She completed her Permaculture Design Course in 2016, and her Permaculture Teacher Training in India in 2023 under Rosemary Morrow and Ivan Blacket, with Narsanna Koppula, Padma Koppula and Jedidiah Alfred. She now co-facilitates Permaculture Teacher Training programmes in India herself, supporting and mentoring the next generation of permaculture educators.

Sneha holds a bachelor's degree in home science, specialising in food and nutrition, from Professor Jayashankar Telangana Agricultural University, and a master's in human nutritional sciences from the University of Wisconsin-Stout in the United States. She worked in the US as a food quality specialist before returning to India, drawn by a strong calling to work with the land and with rural communities through permaculture. She now lives at Aranya Permaculture Farm, which she calls both her home and her classroom. As she puts it, regenerating landscapes begins with regenerating the way we observe, understand and relate to the living systems that sustain us.
