Wanakaset: Forest Agriculture and Self-Reliance is an optional two-day excursion on 9 and 10 November 2026, between the IPC16 Conference and the IPC16 Convergence. It visits Wanakaset, the home of Pooyai Viboon in Sanam Chai Khet, Chachoengsao, about halfway between Bangkok and Suan Loong Choke, where his forest garden has been growing for more than 40 years.

On Day 1, Monday 9 November, the group leaves the Golden Jubilee Museum of Agriculture by van at 09:00. On the way there is a stop for lunch at an affordable local restaurant with good vegetarian options; participants pay for this lunch. The group arrives at about 13:00 to 13:30. In the afternoon, Kunchit Khemchaleom guides a visit to the forest garden to learn about its plant species and agroforestry systems, and to collect herbs for a herbal foot and hand bath for relaxation and restoration. After dinner there is an exchange on forest agriculture as a way of life, global warming, and the place for current and future generations.

On Day 2, Tuesday 10 November, breakfast is at 08:00. From 09:00, participants learn about, collect and prepare many native and perennial vegetables and herbs to make lunch and herbal drinks. After lunch the group travels on to Suan Loong Choke for the Convergence, arriving at about 16:00.

The cost is 5,000 baht per person and includes transport, lodging, activities and most meals. Lodging is in two-person rooms with a fan, a larger shared dormitory with air conditioning, or tents for one or two people, all with bedding. The group is a minimum of 8 and a maximum of 16 people.
