A family-run organic farm and crafts-skills centre on Koh Phangan

Raitiaviset Organic Farm (ไร่เทียวิเศษ) is a small, family-run organic farm on Koh Phangan, owned and worked by Doungden Tiaviset and family — the couple are known locally as Khun Sao and Khun Noom. They have farmed here since around 2009, and the farm is a member of a local organic cooperative.

The farm grows vegetables, herbs and fruit and keeps chickens and fish, with food sourced from nature rather than chemical inputs. Sustainability runs through the work: food-waste composting, wood vinegar, and natural pest repellents. Alongside the growing, it has become a teaching and skills centre, hosting visiting university students and acting as a base for community workshops.

Visitors can book a farm tour to feed the chickens, learn how the composting works, and taste fresh produce. Hands-on workshops cover coconut oil making, Thai cooking (Pad Thai, green and Panang curry, veggie rolls), activated charcoal bars, herb sachets, mosquito repellent, and fruit fermentation for natural cleaning products. An on-site shop sells farm-fresh eggs and greens plus homemade shampoo, body wash, soap and cold-pressed coconut oil, and there is a small homestay of bungalows on the farm.

Note: this is an organic and regenerative farm, not a permaculture project.
