Permaculture educator and filmmaker documenting earth repair across 15+ countries
Andrew Millison is an international supporter of the Thai permaculture movement and a confirmed participant at IPC16 Thailand in November 2026. During a Southeast Asian tour in the winter of 2024-2025 he filmed at the Mab Ueang Agri-Nature Center in Chon Buri, documenting the Kok Nong Na system – a Thai integrated farming model he describes as “the Thai version of Permaculture.” A documentary on the subject is expected in mid-2026, bringing Thailand’s regenerative agriculture movement to his global audience for the first time.

Millison is a permaculture educator, designer and documentary filmmaker based in Corvallis, Oregon. He is a Senior Instructor in the Department of Horticulture at Oregon State University, where he founded OSU Permaculture Design in 2009. The programme has grown into one of the most widely attended online permaculture education platforms in the world, with over 45,000 students enrolled in its free Introduction to Permaculture course and more than 3,000 students completing site designs through its certificate pathway.

He discovered permaculture while studying at Prescott College in Arizona in the mid-1990s. He completed both his undergraduate and Master’s degrees there, focusing on rainwater harvesting, greywater systems and desert agriculture, and went on to run his own design-build company before moving to Oregon in 2008. Since joining OSU he has expanded permaculture education through multiple online courses, two open-access textbooks and a YouTube channel that has surpassed 100 million views and over 700,000 subscribers. His documentary work spans more than 15 countries including India, Egypt, Mexico, Cuba, the African Sahel, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, East Timor, the Philippines and Thailand. He has worked with organisations including the United Nations World Food Program, the Paani Foundation in India, the Municipality of Riyadh and the Government of Timor Leste.

A prominent voice within the international permaculture movement, Millison delivered the keynote address at IPC15 in Taiwan in 2024 and spoke at COP16 in Riyadh the same year. He founded the Earth Repair Fund, a not-for-profit initiative that uses his popular videos as crowdfunding vehicles to directly support the land restoration projects featured in his documentaries.
